Should You Avoid Gluten For Health and Weight Loss?

Hi Vibrant Health Seeker

Should You Avoid Gluten For Health and Weight Loss?

Around 5% of people have coeliac disease. For them being gluten free is not optional because they don’t have the capacity to digest this sticky substance. It is also estimated by researchers that as many as 80% of people experience some form of non-coeliac reaction to gluten.

The problem is that the symptoms can be nonspecific. It can be the person who presents to their doctor feeling tired with aches and pains and perhaps can’t sleep, but their blood tests show no problem.

Gluten is found in wheat, Barley Oats and Rye and cereals based on corn or rice but bolstered with gluten containing foods.

Two books address this problem very well, Grain Brain & Wheat Belly, both written by medical specialists who work in the areas of auto immune disease and autism. The first thing they do is remove gluten from their patient’s diets and most often get rapid results.

In my own clinical experience I tested hundreds of people for gut toxify by using their urine sample with a two-step chemical process. Clear was good, and then the darker the result the worse the state of the gut.

In 100% of coeliac patients I tested which would have been around 40 people they tested clear. This demonstrated to me that not eating gluten was certainly beneficial for gut and overall health. It is believed that the gluten sticks to the microscopic villi which line the small intestine and this interferes with digestion and contributing to allergies.

With respect to weight loss the allergic reactions can come in the form of increased hunger and cravings and reduced uptake of important nutrients.

It can take up to six weeks for the effects of gluten to leave the body so the only way to find out is to stop eating it.

This is where the problem starts, because there are a lot of gluten free products on the market. They try to make eating gluten free as close as possible to normal eating. The problem with these products is that they are highly processed foods often containing high levels of sugar.

The problem of non-coeliac reaction is bound up with the problems which occur with grains in general so just buying a pizza base or crackers without gluten may not solve your problem.

The best way to avoid gluten is to stick to a diet with no grains and no sugars. Before you panic it is not as hard as you might imagine especially if you go about it the right way.
